Wanda Jean (Grose) Joyner

Wanda Jean Grose Fish Joyner of Zebulon died to this life on March 30, 2018. Born in Clay County, WV she had resided in NC since 1977. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Samuel E. Fish and her second husband, Dexter C. Joyner.

Wanda was a devoted wife, loving mother and best friend to her children and wonderful “Nana” to her 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was a woman of strong integrity, loyalty and immense strength and determination. She was a dedicated member of her sorority Beta Sigma Phi for over 50 years. Through the years Wanda has had many interests and endeavors, enabling her to use her God given gifts and talents. She was a great cook and hostess and loved entertaining and large family gatherings. She also loved to garden and travel. She retired from her last position as Legislative Assistant to Senator Dan Clodfelter at the NC General Assembly. She was a remarkable woman and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and neighbors.

She is survived by her only remaining brother Paul Grose of Clay, WV; and her 6 children: Woody Joyner (Chris) of Raleigh, Jean Riggins (Tom) of Garner, Patti Shaffer of Zebulon, Sam Fish (Mary) of Wendell, Michael Joyner of Raleigh and Donna Mintz (Ed) of Clayton; her 20 grandchildren: Angela Bamford (Jeremy), Jennifer Jarrett (Michael), Jessica Corbett (James), Scott Riggins (Kristin), Sara Ulm (Kolt), Seth Riggins, Alexander Shaffer, Stephen Shaffer, Tamra LaRocco (Jay), Lauren Vick (Grant), Monica McBride (Chip), Aaron Mintz, Amanda Mintz, Adam Mintz, Jason McDavitt, Ryan McDavitt, Mary Taylor Joyner, Paul Joyner, Joshua Joyner, Erica Pate (Justin); and 20 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545.  

The funeral mass will be held to commemorate her life and to celebrate her departure into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 11:00 am, St. Eugene Catholic Church, 608 Lions Club Road, Wendell, NC 27591.        

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
