Samuel “Sam” Maynard Jones, age 73, passed away October 28, 2017. He was born in Wake County to the late Maynard Hicks Jones and Eunice Moody Jones.  Sam retired from the City of Raleigh Fire Department with 34 years of service, and was presently working with Brown Trucking Company, where he had been for 20 years.

Funeral service 2:00 pm, Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545, with honors from the Raleigh Fire Department.

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:45.

Burial: Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Zebulon, NC

Surviving: wife, Madene M. Jones of Spring Hope; son, Jason Jones; daughters, Melissa J. Medlin, Wendy Jones; step children, George Bunn, Kristie Bunn; brother, Richard T. Jones; sister, La Rue Jones Wayne; 8 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren.
