Robert Lee Pope, 89, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017.  He was born July 30, 1928 in Wake  County to the late Leroy Pope and Bettie Carpenter Pope.  He served his country in the US Army. Robert retired as a life insurance salesman with Life of Georgia. Robert was devoted to his family and friends, and will be greatly missed.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, November 6, 2017 at Heritage Baptist Church, 615 Mack-Todd Road, Zebulon, NC, 27597.

Burial: New Knightdale Baptist Church Cemetery, Mailman Road, Knightdale, NC 27545.

The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday, November 5, 2017, 3:00 to 5:00 pm at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545, and other times at his home.

Surviving: daughters, Jill Cagle (Jerry) of Pittsboro, Lisa Meehan (Tommy) of Pensacola Fla; sons, Mike Pope of Knightdale, Vic Pope (Terri) of Sanford; grandchildren, Laura Marks, Brad Pope, Samantha Givens, Amanda Meehan, Cameron Cagle, Abby Meehan, Connor Cagle; three great grandchildren; brother, James Pope of Knightdale;  a host of special nieces, nephews, and close friends.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife Frances Elnora Brown Pope; brother, William Henry “Doodle” Pope; sisters, Louise Brown, Rachel Tibbens; nephew, Tim Holmquist.
