Reverend John Hezekiah White

John Hezekiah White, 81, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. John was born November 8, 1936 in Newport News, VA to the late Hezekiah White and Odell Johnson White. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of New Hope Fire Department and for many years served as their Santa Claus. John was also a member of Rose Hill Fire Department. John dedicated his life to serving the Lord and was a retired Methodist minister. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He leaves behind a loving and caring family and many cherished friends.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:30 pm, Sunday, July 8, 2018 at St. James United Methodist Church, 3808 St. James Church Road, Raleigh, NC 27604. A time of visitation will follow the service in Carson Hall. 

Inurnment will take place at St. James United Methodist Church Columbarium.

John is survived by his wife, Nancy Hightower White; daughters: Angela Cooke (Sam) of Knightdale, Johnna White of Chapel Hill, and Joy Gabriel (Gordon) of Clayton; step-daughters: Shannon Wright (Chris) of Charlotte and Heather Johnson (Tim) of Raleigh; grandchildren: Amanda LeMaster (Joe), John Cooke (Angela), Jessica Segobiano (Brad), Beth Bolton (Michael), Kaylee, Junior, and Lea Gabriel, Evan and Carter Johnson; 7 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Dorothy Bradshaw of South Boston, VA.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Beth Fuller and brother, Howard White.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James United Methodist Church.
