Mary Ella "Mae" (Knott) Denton

Mary Ella “Mae” Knott Denton, 95, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018. She was born February 3, 1923 in Wake County to the late John Eugene Knott and Maggie Nowell Knott. Mae worked as a Teller in the main office of First Citizens Bank for 45 years. As long as her health permitted she was devoted to her church, especially to the music program, singing in the choir and arranging music for Sunday services. 

Funeral service 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 8400 Poole Road, Knightdale, 27545. Burial at church cemetery.   

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Friday, March 2, 2018 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Rd., Knightdale, 27545. 

Surviving: daughter, Pattie Richardson Blalock of Raleigh; grandsons: Robert Barry Blalock, Jonathan Brett Blalock; numerous nieces & nephews and special friends. 

In addition to her parents, Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Denton; brothers: Jake Knott, William Henry Knott, Cedric Knott, Chesley Knott; sisters: Maxine K. Mitchell, Kathleen Early, Anah Richardson. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church.
