Marilyn Kay Starbuck Flanders, 84, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Wake Med. She was born February 23, 1933 in Hartford, IL to the late William Bernell Starbuck and Ida Ozora Downer Starbuck. Marilyn was a devoted member of St. James United Methodist Church.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, September 7, 2017 at St. James United Methodist Church, 3808 St. James Church Road, Raleigh, NC 27604. The family will receive relatives and friends immediately following the service until 1:00 pm. 

A committal service will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, September 8, 2017 at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, 8220 Bragg Blvd, Fort Bragg, NC 28310.      

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 61 years, Mehnert A. Flanders, Jr.; children: Michael Lee Flanders of Knightdale, NC, Kenneth A. Flanders (Sharon) of Abingdon, VA, Michelle Renee F. Uldall (John) of Vacaville, CA, Kimberly Ann Flanders (Don Crouse) of Strasburg, VA ; brother, Dennis B. Starbuck of CA; sisters: Dorothy S. Darden of Wood River, IL, Norma S. Curtis of East Alton, IL; grandchildren: Sarah F. Smith (Brandon), Kristen Flanders, Mitchell Uldall, Randy B. Flanders, Morgan J. Flanders, Eric Uldall; and a great-grandson: Eli Smith.                  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ernest Lee Starbuck.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James United Methodist Church.
