Lois Irene Jeffreys Hicks, 89, passed away September 18, 2017. She was born March 29, 1928 in Nash County to the late Thomas Cleveland Jeffreys and Ira Bartholomew Jeffreys. Lois retired after 30 years of service as a seamstress with K & R Sportswear.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, 27545. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Spring Hope, NC. 

The family will receive relatives and friends from 1:00 to 2:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. 

Surviving: son, David S. Hicks (Jill) of Zebulon; daughter, DiAnn H. Murphy (Lloyd) of Zebulon; grandchildren: Denese Murphy Cornell (Chris), Zack Hicks, Austin Hicks, Spencer Hicks; great-grandchildren: Ryan Cornell, Kathryn Cornell. 

In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Spencer Hicks; sisters: Virginia, Nellie, Meta; brothers: Elmer, James, Cleveland, Julian and Walter. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holly Grove Baptist Church, 1640 Holly Rd, Spring Hope, NC 27882.
