Leona Board Oliver, 81, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017 at UNC Rex Healthcare Nursing Center, Apex. She was born November 15, 1935 in Guilford County to the late Jessie Clarence Board and Bessie Carmen Anderson Board. She retired after 35 years of service as a Supervisor in the Engineering Department with Southern Bell. She devoted her life to playing piano and organ for many church ministries until 6 years ago, when Alzheimer’s began to creep into her life. Leona was a loving wife to her husband, Hugh of 64 years and a loving and proud mother to her son, Keith and his wife, Christy; granddaughters: Victoria Oliver and Alexandra Oliver.          

A service to celebrate her life will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Rd., Knightdale, 27545. Burial Raleigh Memorial Park.

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:45 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Eastern NC Chapter, 5171 Glenwood Ave., Suite 101, Raleigh, NC 27612.
