John William Watson

John William Watson, 76, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019. He was born November 18, 1942 in Wake County to the late Willie Lee Watson and Louvenia Edwards Watson. John honorably served his country in the US Army Special Forces. He worked with the NC Highway Patrol from 1968-1976 and retired from the NC Department of Corrections. 

Funeral service 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Bethany Baptist Church, 3417 Rolesville Rd, Wendell, 27591. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. 

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:45 pm at the church. 

Surviving: daughter, Denece W. McGehee; grandchildren: John Edward Barrett, II, Robert Kyle McGehee; great-grandchildren: Isaac James Barrett, Scarlett Grace Barrett, Penelope Kate Barrett; and a brother, Bobby R. Watson. 

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Shigeko Oshiro Watson; sons: Willie Lee Watson, Christopher Lee Watson and brother, Thomas Earl Watson. 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Woodrow Wilson Chapter 1, 1700 Hodge Road, Knightdale, NC 27545.
