Jodie Riley Wood

Jodie Riley Wood, 85, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018 surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 16, 1933 in Wake County to the late Pressie Wood and Pearl Carter Wood. Jodie was a Plant Manager for Martin Marietta, retiring with 47 years of service. Jodie took great pride in his family and loved spending time with them. 

Funeral service 2:00 pm Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Samaria Baptist Church, 3621 Poole Rd, Raleigh, 27610 with entombment to follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, 809 W Gannon Ave, Zebulon, 27597. 

The family will receive relatives and friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Saturday, May 5, 2018 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, 27545 and other times at the home. 

Surviving: sons: Donald Joseph Wood of Garner, Terry Lee Wood of Louisiana; daughter, Lisa Ann Johnson (Kip) of Wendell; grandchildren: Chris, Lauren, David Elizabeth, Gabe, Dustin, Terry, Jr., John and Benji; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers: Charles Wood of Lizard Lick, William Bertie Wood of Cocoa, Florida; sisters: Sally Perdue of Raleigh, Rachel Gilberti of Louisburg and Vivian Scott of Cocoa, Florida. 

In addition to his parents, Jodie was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Gay Wood and his twin sister, Josephine W. Shirley.
