Janie Lee (Fulghum) Dennis

Janie Lee Fulghum Dennis, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 5, 2019. She was born June 29, 1930 in Nash County to the late Ernest Lee Fulghum and Etta Bryant Wood Fulghum. Janie retired from Belk’s as an accounting supervisor with 35 years of service. She was faithful member of Carolina Pines Baptist Church where she served as one of the first female deacons. Janie was also a 40 year member of the South Raleigh Civitan Club.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Carolina Pines Baptist Church, 2655 S. Saunders Street, Raleigh, NC 27603. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery, Wendell.

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm at the church and other times at the home, 2719 Crestline Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27603.

Janie is survived by her children: Bryant Dennis of Raleigh, Ann D. Lloyd (Kim) of Knightdale, Nancy D. Held (Fred) of Clayton, Bonnie D. Nobling (Coley) of Willow Spring, Allen Dennis of Raleigh; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; siblings: Peggy F. Wood of Vero Beach, FL, Ernest “Pee Wee” L. Fulghum, Jr. of Raleigh, Larry Fulghum (Martha) of Raleigh, Betsy F. Williams of Clayton, Judy F. Gay of Rolesville; sisters-in-law: Carolyn Fulghum, Melba Fulghum, and Dot Fulghum.  

In addition to her parents, she preceded in death by her husband, Claude Harrison Dennis; brothers: T. W. Fulghum, Billy Fulghum, and Charles “Chuck” Fulghum.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Carolina Pines Baptist Church or South Raleigh Civitan Club, 1020 Harper Road, Raleigh, NC 27603.
