James Ellis Fuller, Sr. age 81 of 751 Marshburn Road, Wendell died May 3, 2019 at Rex Hospital. James was born April 21, 1938 in Wendell to the late Herman E. Fuller and Algie Medlin Fuller. James served his country in the US Navy and the US Air Force. While stationed in Washington, DC he was married to the late Julia Swann of Maryland.

James retired from Tate Engineering of Maryland in 1980. He then moved his family back to Wendell. He became the manager of Maxway Stores in Zebulon, Elizabethtown and Selma. He later worked for Envirocon of Wilson and lastly Natvar of Clayton prior to becoming permanently disabled due to injuries sustained from an automobile accident.

He is survived by his daughters: Robin F. Wall (Louis) of Knightdale, Kim Johnson (Don) of Zebulon; sons: James E. “Jimmy” Fuller, Jr. (Karen) of Oak Hill, West Virginia and Neil Fuller (Jill) of Anaheim, California; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

James is also survived by his brothers: Ronald Fuller (Edith) of Raleigh and Ira C. Fuller of Wendell; brother-in-law, Allen Swann of Maryland; and sisters-in-law: Donna Carpenter of Maryland and Christine Fuller of Bunn.

In addition to his parents and his wife Julia S. Fuller, James was preceded in death by his brothers: Phillip W. Fuller and Wallace E. Fuller; sisters: Annette F. Edwards and Mary F. Helton.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale with Reverend Glen Brock officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 to 12:45 pm at the funeral home.   

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the NC Heart Fund or to the charity of one’s choice.
