Hubert “Ben” Benjamin Strickland, Sr., 74, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018. He was born August 7, 1944 in Nash County to the late Hubert Moses Strickland and Aline Murray Strickland. Ben honorably served his country in the US Army earning the National Defense Service Medal. Ben retired as a supervisor after 34 years of service with the NC Division of Transportation, Division 4, Wilson.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 7:00 to 8:30 pm, Sunday, November 18, 2018 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, 27545.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, November 19, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
He is survived by, wife of 50 years, Louise Medlin Strickland; son, Hubert Benjamin Strickland, Jr. (Amy) of Zebulon; daughters: Juanita Marrs (Alvin) of High Point, Windy Perry (Dwain) of Zebulon; grandchildren: Kenneth Blake Collie, Jr. (Bri), Leslie Michelle Collie, Austin Ryan Driver; great-grandchild, Heath Wilson Collie; brother: Sidney Strickland (Nancy) of Henderson, sisters: Linda Allen (Clarence) of Wake Forest, Earlene Medlin of Zebulon, Betty Sue Smith of Louisburg, Connie Howard of Spring Hope, Marie Turnage (Dennis) of Zebulon.
In addition to his parents, Hubert was preceded in death by grandson, Timothy Benjamin Driver; sister, Lula Ann Costin.
