Hilliard Ross Privette, Sr.

Hilliard Ross Privette, Sr., 78, passed away Monday, May 21, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born May 9, 1940 in Wake County to the late Wesley Ervin Privette, Jr. and Pauline Horton Privette. Hilliard graduated from Wendell High School in 1958. He married the love of his life, Diane Hendricks in 1965. He co-owned and operated Privette’s Grocery and Garage, also known as Uncle Zeb’s, with his brother, Ervin, Jr. for many years. He and his wife were members of the Wendell Country Club for 35 years. He and Diane enjoyed playing golf and traveling. They were both big NC State and Nascar fans and in their later years loved spending time at the beach. 

Funeral service 3:00 pm, Thursday, May 24, 2018 at L. Harold Poole  Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Rd., Knightdale, 27545. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery.    

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:45 pm at the funeral home and other times at the home on Marshburn Road. 

Surviving: sons: Chip Privette of Wendell, Larry Privette of Wendell; grandchildren: Zack Privette, Dayna Privette, Austin Privette, Michaela Privette; sister-in-law, Joan N. Privette; nephew, Wesley Ervin “Wes” Privette, III.   

In addition to his parents, Hilliard was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Hendrick Privette and brother, Wesley Ervin Privette, Jr.
