Guido John Carrara

Guido John Carrara, 86, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at his home in Wendell, NC surrounded by his loving and caring family. He was born March 8, 1932 in Chicago, IL to the late Nello Giovanni Carrara and Frances Caputo Carrara. Guido honorably served his country in the US Army from 1950-1954 and was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Service Star and the Korean Service Medals. Guido retired after many years of service with Kelly Springfield Tire Co. After retirement he enjoyed fishing, spending time on his boat and being with his family.

A service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, July 8, 2018 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Rd., Knightdale, 27545 with Military Honors.     

The family will receive relatives and friends immediately following the service until 3:30 pm at the funeral home.

Surviving: wife, Margaret Ann Faircloth Carrara; children: Guido James “Butch” Carrara (Patty) of Wendell, Debra Carrara Floyd of Knightdale, Richard “Rick” Alan Carrara (Kim) of Knightdale, Gary John Carrara of Wendell, Robin Lynn Carrara Gore (Alfredo) of Wendell; grandchildren: Nathan Carrara, Jennifer Floyd, Leslie Floyd, Michael Carrara, Kristian Brock, Mason Carrara; great-grandchildren: Chelsey Floyd, Lucan Carrara, Guiliana Brock.

In addition to his parents, Guido was preceded in death by his brother, Henry Carrara.
