Ethel “Louise” Stokely Swineford, 90, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017. She was born June 5, 1927 in Hertford, Perquimans County to the late Murden Stokely and Celtic White Stokely. Louise was married to the late Ralph Vernon Swineford, who preceded her in death on March 31, 1985. Louise grew up in Hertford, NC. on a family farm and attended Berea Church of Christ.

Funeral service 2:00 pm, Sunday, August 27, 2017 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, 27545.

The family will receive relatives and friends following the service until 5:00 pm.

Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. beside her husband, Ralph, who served in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged after 26 years of service. Time and Dates are to be announced at a later date.

Surviving: sons, Douglas Martin Swineford of Raleigh, Bruce Murden Swinford and his wife Judy of Waldorf, MD, Craig Vernon Swinford of Occoquan, VA; granddaughter, Ashley Lauren Dipietri and her husband Giorgio Dipietri; great-grandchildren: Giorgio Bruce Dipietri, Juliana Faye Dipietri; sisters: Peggy Tipper of Hertford and Annie Reed Lewis of Ohio.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Louise was preceded in death by sisters: Inez Long, Elizabeth Heath; brothers: James Rufus Stokely, Ike Stokely, Paul White Stokely, Jerry Murden Stokely.
