Ernest Thomas "E.T." Cozart, Jr.

Ernest Thomas “E.T.” Cozart, Jr., 87, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018. He was born June 5, 1931 in Wake County to the late Ernest Thomas Cozart, Sr. and Lela Watson Cozart. He graduated from Knightdale High School in 1951. He retired after 38 years of service with the NC Department of Transportation as an Engineer Tech III.  E.T. was a member of Rolesville Masonic Lodge #683 AF & AM and the Rolesville Eastern Star #286 where his late wife Betty was a member. Even though E.T. will be buried on the Cozart plot at Bethany Baptist Church, he and his family were members of Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church.

Funeral service 3:00 pm, Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, 27545. Burial will follow at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. 

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 12:30 to 2:45 pm at the funeral home.

Surviving: sons: Michael “Mike” Thomas Cozart, of West Jefferson, Ernest Thomas “Tommy” Cozart, III (Vickie) of Wake Forest; daughter, Kimberly “Kim” Marie Cozart of Garner; grandchildren: Michael Thomas Cozart, Jr. (Melody), Jonathan Christopher Cozart, Heather Cozart Swales, Jennifer Leigh Cozart; 5 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Betty Lockamy Cozart on May 15, 2018; and his siblings: Lyda Cozart Moody, Catherine Cozart Vaughn, and William Haywood Cozart.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Masonic Home for Children, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 2755.
