Douglas Henry Poole, 86, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017. He was born August 5, 1930 in Wake County to the late Henry Marshall Poole and Thelma Faison Poole. He honorably served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was in concrete construction and a minister.

Funeral service 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 6, 2017 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Rd., Knightdale, 27545. Burial at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. 

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:45 pm. 

Surviving: daughters: Janet P. Holloway (Pat) of Pleasant Grove, UT, Donna Poole-Wright (Danny) of Rocky Point; brothers: Joe Poole (Pat) of Knightdale, Bobby Poole (Tommi) of Knightdale; sisters: Doris P. Lewis of Harker’s Island, Edie P. Plautz (Ken) of Zebulon; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; special caregiver, Minnie Johnson (David).  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Deborah Poole Hill; brothers: Phillip and Durwood Poole. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite church ministry in Douglas’ memory.
