Donald James Cowden, Sr., 78, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016. He was born August 27, 1938 in Kingsport, TN to the late Harry E. Cowden and Gertrude Eades Cowden.  He was a retired Biomedical Engineer with Wake Med. Donald enjoyed operating ham radios (N8DDK) in his spare time.

Surviving wife of 53 years, Judy Marie Cowden; sons, Patrick Todd Cowden (Jessie), Donald Cowden (Janice); grandchildren, Erin Cowden, Kaitlyn Cowden, Chloe Cowden, Aaron Osborne; sisters, Phyllis Charles, Margaret Hurd, Joyce Tate; sister-in-law, Charlotte Carpenter (late husband Larry); brother-in-laws, Gerald Buchanan (Linda), Jerry Buchanan (late wife Dianne); close friend, Charlie Davis; and all of his amateur radio friends.
