Cora Alease Flowers

October 24, 1927 ~ September 17, 2016 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Cora Alease Flowers of 605 Keith Street in Knightdale, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2016 in Henderson. Alease was born October 24, 1927 to Dollie Stevenson Siler and Robert Siler. She grew up in the Apex community. Alease married Davie B. Flowers on September 6, 1946 and eventually moved to Knightdale where she lived most of her life. She was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Truly she was a Proverbs: 31 woman. Alease worked for Hudson Belk for over 25 years. Her last years at Belk were spent working in their doll shop at Crabtree Valley Mall. She became an avid collector of dolls and had over 300. However, she was first a homemaker. She was a fabulous cook and enjoyed having family and friends over for meals. She loved working in her yard and did most of the yard work herself until she was in her late 70’s.

Alease was a member of Knightdale Baptist Church for over 60 years. She was a member of the Christian Service Sunday School Class and the B.A.L.L. Club at the church. She loved her church family and faithfully attended until her health declined. She also attended East Wake Senior Center in Wendell, NC until poor health forced her to stay home.

Surviving is son, Robert Flowers (Willadean) of Henderson; daughter, Linda Lawson (Weldon) of Westover, MD; son, Davie B. Flowers, Jr. (Elaine) of Wendell; sisters: Nadien Johnson of Miami, FL and Elaine York of New Smyrna Beach, FL; brother, E.L. Siler (Barbara) of Ashville; 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a very special friend, Winnie Roberson.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Pusser and her brothers: Robert Siler and Billy Siler.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Knightdale Baptist Church, 15 Main Street, Knightdale, 27545. Burial will follow at New Knightdale Baptist Church Cemetery on Mailman Rd.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service and Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, 27545

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Knightdale Baptist Church Building Fund.

The family extends a “Thank you” to the staff and residents of Senior Citizens Nursing Home for the love and care shown to Alease. A special “Thank you” to her dear neighbor, Jim Harrison and her caretakers, Lisa Fowler and Carol Denning. They enabled Alease to stay in her home for as long as possible.
