Claude Thomas May

Claude Thomas May, 93, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018. He was born December 17, 1924 in Franklin County to the late Zollie Thomas May and Elsie Pearce May. Claude honorably served his country in the US Navy from 1943 – 1946 during WWII participating in the Pacific Theatre Battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Claude later retired as Assistant Chief with the City of Raleigh Fire Department in 1981 after 32 years of service. 

Funeral service 12:00 pm, Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, 27545. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. 

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 10:30 am – 11:45 am at the funeral home. 

Surviving: son, Terry T. May (Hae Sun May); grandsons, Scott T. May (Allison), Bradley B. May (Whitney), Wesley D. May (Stacy), Ryan C. May (Heather); great-grandchildren: Quinlan, Axel, Parker, Makayla, Bailey, Hudson and expected in June, Brayden; brother, Adrian May; sisters: Lois M. Jones, Senora M. Wheless, Joyce M. Stanley; daughter-in-law, Cindy C. May. 

In addition to his parents, Claude was preceded in death by his wife, Madie Chalk May; son, Randy D. May; brother, Arvey K. May; sister, Alda Blythe.
