December 10, 1931 ~ July 31, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Charles Edward House, Sr., “Popee”, 85 years old passed away July 31, 2017 after a period of declining health. He was born December 10th, 1931 to the late Joseph Thomas and Lucille Bailey House on the Bethlehem Rd. family farm in Knightdale. Charles was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener, enjoying many trips to Brunswick County, oyster roasts, pig pickins, cooking, his garden and adventures with his friend D.Y Murphy, recently deceased. Charles retired in 1988 with 30 years of service in the NCSU Plant Genetics Department. 

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Walker House; daughter, Patricia House Carlson; son, Timothy Wayne House (Marsha); daughter-in-law, Lee House; step daughters: Rebecca Benton Doyle (J.W.), Shannon Benton Hardy (Dan), Heather Benton Librizzi (Tony); grandchildren: Jason Thomas House (Casy), Joshua Allen House, Charles Edward “Trey” House III (Ashley), Timothy Smith (Martha), Marisa Shields (Parker), Megan Pearce (Michael), Christin Baker (Justin), Morgan House, Melissa Parker(Shane), Dustin Kerr, Addison Hardy, Savannah Hardy, Alyssa Librizzi (Fiancée, Corey Whelan); twins: Emma and Nick Librizzi; great-grandchildren: Alexa Cook, Damein House, Hayden House, Bradley Baker, Evee Leigh Baker, Libby Pearce, Caitlyn Smith, Nikki Smith, Avery House; brother-in-law, James Pope; niece, Pam Johnson (M.J.) their children: Clayton and Mackenzie; nephew, Jimmie (Laurie) and their children: Bradley and Nick; his first wife, Elizabeth B. Markham (John).

Funeral service 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 8400 Poole Road, Knightdale, 27545. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:45 pm at the church and other times at the home.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by son, Charles Edward “Chuck” House, Jr.; grandson, Brandon K. House; step-son, Robert C. Benton, Jr.; son-in-law, Terry Carlson; sister, Helen House Pope.

Charles loved flowers and for many years he owned and operated House of Flowers in Knightdale, so flowers are welcomed. Memorials can be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church, 8400 Poole Road Knightdale, N.C.  27545 or to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle Raleigh, N.C. 27607.
