Carl B. Martin, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016 at his home in Knightdale. He was the son of the late Edd and Ara Martin of Johnston County. Carl graduated from Corinth-Holder High School and attended Kings Business College and was a graduate of International Accountants Society. He served in the US Army during the peace time draft and retired from the NC Department of Commerce, Credit Union Division as Deputy Administrator after more than 30 years of state service. Carl was a master gardener, a Wake Med Hospital volunteer for 21 years and a Raleigh YMCA member for many years. He enjoyed

gardening, fishing, watching basketball games, raising bantam chickens and working out at the Y. He was an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, having served as a deacon, choir member, Keen Age Club member and served on various committees.

 He is survived by loving wife of 61 years, Velma H. Martin; son, Walter C. Martin (Sandra); grandchildren: Jeff Martin (Whitney), Bobby Martin (Meredith), John Martin (Erica), Savannah and Samuel Stephens; great-grandchildren: Jackson, Mason, Addie, Aubrey; sister, Linnie Edwards; special friends, Bo Meeler, Jim and Nancy Strother, Betty Williams, Tommy and Anitra Pearce.

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Herman, Bill, Charles; sisters: Lona, Buice, Ruby.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church Keen Age Club.
