Obituary

Buxton “Buck” Gray Ellington, 87, passed away peacefully at his home on October 10, 2018. Buck was born on December 20, 1930 in Warren County to the late James Thomas Ellington and Annie Catherine Blackburn Ellington. After graduation, Buck served his country in the US Army. Following his tour of duty, he married the love of his life, Ann Neal on March 21, 1954. He went on to graduate from the Durham School of Barber. Buck worked 30 years at Longview Gardens Barber Shop in Raleigh. He opened his own barber shop and worked for 10 years at Buck’s Barber Shop in the Wilder’s Grove Community. Buck was a member of the Hiram Masonic Lodge #40 A.F. & A. M. and Longview United Methodist Church. Buck was devoted to his family and friends. He enjoyed spending Saturday’s with his girls eating at the Knightdale Waffle House.

A celebration of his life will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, October 15, 2018 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, 27545 with Masonic Rites and Military Honors.

Inurnment will take place at a later date at Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive relatives and friends immediately following the service for a time of fellowship and reminiscing until 4:00 pm.

Surviving: children: Karen Ellington (Warren) of Wake Forest, Cheryl E. Kelley (Don) of Raleigh, Beverly E. Townsend (Mike) of Concord; grandchildren: Elizabeth (Tony), Stephanie, Jeremy (Betsy), Jennifer (Dustin), Megan (Melissa), Justin; great-grandchildren: Landon (Ally), Cayson, Michael, Rylan; sister, Lucille McManaway of Wake Forest; numerous, nieces, nephews and special friends.

In addition to his parents, Buck was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Neal Ellington; daughter, Sandra E. Bridgers; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

In lieu of flower, memorial contributions may be made to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 or Masonic Home for Children, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Transitions Hospice Team: Barbara, Adailia, Musa and Catherine for their wonderful care and compassion during Buck’s illness.
