Bertha Lee (Long) Carroll

Bertha L Carroll, 81, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018. She was born April 4, 1937 in Silver Springs, Maryland to the late Horace Wesley Long, Sr. and Catherine Sherman Long. Bertha was a very loving mother of seven children. She worked at A & P Grocery as a cashier for many years until she was in a horrific car accident and had to stay at home for a short period of time. After her recovery, she basically stayed home to be a housewife until her children were old enough and then went back to work with Starvin Marvin as a cashier until her health declined. 

Funeral service 1:00 pm, Saturday, November 17, 2018 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, 27545.                

Burial will follow at Spring Branch Baptist Church, 2391 N. Spring Branch Rd., Dunn, NC 28334. 

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at the funeral home. 

Surviving: sons: Danny Willis (Kathy) of Benson, Gary Willis (Wendy) of Coats, John Carroll, Jr. of Wilson; daughters: Donna McLaird of Wendell; Terry King (Mike) of Wake Forest; daughter-in-law, Gina Willis of Raleigh; adopted son, Russell Tyner (Gina); brothers: Harry Long of Florida., Leonard Long of California; sisters: Loretta Long of Maryland, Lois Willis of California; Catherine Ellis; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Carroll, Sr.; sons: Larry T. Willis and John Wayne Willis; brothers: Charles Long, Horace Long, Jr.; sister, Ruth Long.
