William "Bill" Elroy Daniels

William “Bill” Elroy Daniels, 81, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 17, 2022. He was born August 29, 1941 in Norfolk, VA to the late Branch Howard Daniels, Sr. and Effie Baine Daniels. Bill was a graduate of Old Dominion University. He retired from upper management after 36 years of service with CVS. After retirement he went to work with Sherwin Williams for 10 years. Bill volunteered for 51 years as a baseball coach in various cities, wherever he lived, and he was affectionately known as “Coach D”. He was actively involved at Longview Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon as well as serving on the budget/finance committee. Bill helped people wherever he saw a need. He loved the Christmas season and was a decorating enthusiast.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Longview Baptist Church, 2308 N. New Hope Road, Raleigh, NC. 

The family will receive relatives and friends immediately following the service at the church.

A private burial will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Taylor Daniels; children: Celeste LePrevost-Vasile (Nick), Sherry Laws (Mark), Adam Long (Liz); step-children: Valerie Nance, Bobby Nance (Melissa); four grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister, Betty Minger; sister-in-law, Linda Daniels.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 20 years, Eileen and brother, Branch Howard Daniels, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Longview Baptist Church.
