Jimmy Rogers Barnes, Sr.

Jimmy Rogers Barnes, Sr., 90, died Saturday, May 16, 2020.  Jimmy was born in Wake County on June 13, 1929 to the late Oscar Gaston Barnes and Stella Barham Barnes.  He graduated from Broughton High School and served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U. S. Navy.  Jimmy was a NC State employee his entire working career as a printer with the Department of Motor Vehicles and the State Bureau of Investigation. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing pool.    

Graveside Service: 1:00 pm, Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612.    

He is survived by his son, Jimmy Rogers Barnes, Jr. (Paula); step-son, Jerry Dale Hawley; granddaughter: Ashley Caroll Ezzell (Joey); and three step-grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Godwin Barnes, brothers: Oscar, Robert, and Joseph Barnes; sisters, Virginia Pruitt, Ella Louise Barnes, and Edna Earle Taylor.
