Jeremy Richard Cartner

Jeremy Cartner, 44, of Knightdale, North Carolina passed away on October 5 at WakeMed Raleigh from complications of COVID-19. Born in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of Gary Cartner and Marcella Novak, he grew up in Geneva, Ohio and graduated from Geneva High School in 1995. After graduating from Lakeland Community College with a degree in Radiologic Technology he accepted a position in Radiology at the University of North Carolina Medical Center where he worked until the time of his death. On October 1, 2002 he married the love of his life, Andrea Sharpe. Jeremy loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas and Disney with his family. An avid music lover, he played many instruments, including bass guitar, drums, and ukulele. Through his life he was a member of many different bands and one of his favorite things to do was to gather with friends and make music.

A loving son, an amazing father and husband, Jeremy valued his family above all else. His good nature and easy-going demeanor made him an asset to all the lives he touched. He will especially be remembered for his sly smile, quick wit, and sense of humor. 

He is survived by his wife Andrea, sons: Oliver and Charlie; daughter, Agatha; mother, Marcella Novak (John); father-in-law, Dennis Sharpe (Darlene); mother-in-law, Vivian Childs (Dale); step-mother, Miriam Cartner (Kathleen Milford); grandmother, Shirley Cartner; sister, Emily D’Alessandro and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Cartner; sister, Sarah Cartner; grandparents: Frank and Shirley Nappi and grandfather, William Cartner. 

A Service will be held Saturday, October 9 at 1:00 pm at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory in Knightdale. It will be live streamed on the Funeral Home website for those who cannot attend. Friends are also invited to join the family to celebrate Jeremy with food and fellowship on Sunday at 11:00 am at the Planter’s Walk Club House on Lynnwood Road in Knightdale.
