Amy Lee Meiggs

Amy Lee Meiggs or “Mimi” (60) of Knightdale, North Carolina and Moyock, North Carolina died peacefully with family by her side on March 26, 2020. Amy was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Amy was a multiple Emmy award-winning editor for UNC-TV, WRAL, and WAVY. Amy was a self-prescribed “high-tech redneck” who loved Star Trek, cooking and baking, antiquing, weekly trivia with her Corner Crew at the Sport’s Page, and funny television commercials. 

She is survived by wife of 24 years Kelly “Von” Harrell (Knightdale, NC); daughter, Hayley Nicole Schiebel and husband, Francesco Peri (Boston, MA); sister, Edith Wombolt (Wintergreen, VA); brother, David Meiggs (Elizabeth City, NC), and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, furbabies, and friends, particularly the Knightdale “village.” 

Amy will always be remembered for her biting wit, compassion for animals, and zest for life. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ASPCA or Audubon Society in Amy’s name. 

If you find yourself passing by the house, please hang a wish on the tree in the front yard. 

A service will be held at a later time.
