Wallace Clifton Stallings

April 4, 1929 ~ October 11, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Wallace Clifton Stallings, 88, of the Pilot Community, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, October 11, 2017. He was born April 4, 1929 in Franklin County to the late Millard Stallings and Hattie Williams Stallings. Wallace honorably served his country in the US Army.

After returning from service, he met and married the love of his life, Torchie Denton. Together they spent the next 60 years raising their family and serving the Lord. Dad retired from Wake Medical Center after 27 years and continued to work until he was 80. He deeply loved Jesus, his family, Pilot Church and his community. Dad served Pilot Baptist Church for over 60 years in many different capacities. He loved to work with his hands and enjoyed helping others. He served on several disaster relief efforts with NC Baptist Men. Dad will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Pilot Baptist Church, 8103 NC-39, Zebulon, 27597. Burial, Stallings Family Cemetery with Military Honors.

The family will receive relatives and friends following the burial at the Family Life Center and other times at the home, 670 Clyde Pearce Road, Zebulon, 27597.

Surviving: wife, Torchie Denton Stallings; daughters: Jill S. Owen (Wayne) of Pilot, Armenia S. Davis (Clyde) of Pearces, Mary S. Evans (Nathan) of Clayton; sons: William Robert “Rob” Stallings (Michelle) of Pilot, Joseph “Joe” Eric Stallings (Judy Matthews) of Pilot; grandchildren: Adam Owen (Jayme), Georganna Davis, Leah Owen, Olivia Davis Brewer (Jared), Ellouise Davis, Emily Stallings, William Stallings II, John Michael Stallings, Ava Evans, Ethan Evans, Cullen Evans; great-grandson, Brody Owen; sister, Mildred Campbell.

In addition to his parents, Wallace was preceded in death by sisters: Geraldine S. Moore, Jackie Stallings and Margaret Stallings.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Avendelle Assisted Living for their extraordinary care, Mable, Tish, Whitney, Brittany, Brenda, Shaqilla, Kiki, Maggie and the Heartland Hospice Team.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pilot Baptist Church.
