Siv (Karlsson) Dossett

Siv Karlsson Dossett, 79, passed away Monday, February 5, 2018 after an extended illness. She was born on October 23, 1938 in Ystad, Sweden to the late Carl Gustav Karlsson and Ebba Sandmark. She graduated from high school and went to Linkopings School of Nursing in Sweden. She met her future husband “Ted” in Spain, then moved to Raleigh to raise her family. She worked at WakeMed as a nurse, she then earned her nursing degree from ECU. She continued her career inspecting senior facilities. She was recognized by her peers for her compassion and strong principles, working for 20 years advocating for geriatric patients. Siv retired from the N. C. Department of Health and Human Services. Siv was an avid gardener with a great love of nature. Her creativity and Swedish heritage were expressed in her exceptional knitting skills and delicious Christmas goodies to the delight of her family and friends. She was truly devoted to her family, serving as it’s core.

A service to celebrate her life will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 25, 2018 L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, 27545.

The family will receive relatives and friends following the service until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Surviving: husband, Franklin Edward “Ted” Dossett; son, Anders P. Dossett of Raleigh; daughter, Hilary Dossett of Raleigh; granddaughter, Haley Dossett; and sisters: Kia Nordstrom, Britt Sulonen, Elsa Ahlberg all of Sweden.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wake County SPCA , 200 Petfinder Way, Raleigh, NC  27603.
