Robert Elmer Raybon (81) of Wendell, NC died at Stephens County Hospital in Toccoa, GA on Thursday, October 12, 2017.  He had been in declining health for several weeks.

He graduated from Wendell High School and Barton College.  He attended North Carolina State University for graduate school and was a teacher at Cary High School for a few years.  He worked for Superior Stone Corporation, briefly, and later at Martin Marietta Corporation for several years as an engineer.  He then started his own business, Design Services, Inc, designing rock quarries in North Carolina and surrounding states.

A service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 125 S Selma Rd, Wendell, 27591. Inurnment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Zebulon.

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the church.

He is survived by his wife, Faye; one son, Dr. Brian Raybon (Joann); three grandchildren: Tristan, Julia and Martin; a sister-in-law: Judy Raybon; nephews: Clint and Kent Newsome and their families; cousins: Jean Poole, Ann Pippin, Joan Watson, Maxine Senter, Don Batten and Jimmy Batten, Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Jewel, and his brother, Shelton W Raybon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage Fund of Covenant Presbyterian Church, 125 S. Selma Road, Wendell, NC 27591.
