Otis Warren West, 73, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Duke Raleigh Hospital surrounded by his loving and caring family. Otis was born in Harnett County on January 25, 1944 to the late Warren Festus West and Ruby Ellen Barefoot West. In 1963 Otis graduated from Benson High School. He retired after 23 years of service as a truck driver with Winn Dixie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Tillie Finch West. 24 years ago in December he married Nancy Cagle Glover West and Nancy’s family became his family. Otis and Nancy had friends far and wide and a Bethlehem Church family as well as Knightdale United Methodist Church family. Otis was devoted to his family, his friends and never met a stranger. 

A service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, February 10, 2017 at Knightdale United Methodist Church, 7071 Forestville Rd., Knightdale, 27545. Burial church cemetery on Second Ave. in Knightdale. 

The family will receive relatives and friends 12:00 to 1:45 pm at the church prior to the service and other times at the home of Nancy Glover West. 

Surviving: wife, Nancy; daughter, Susan West Wilson (Tim) of Benson; son, David Glover (Terry) of Rocky Mount; grandchildren: Ally Glover, Logan Pope (Kenan Bunn), Abby Glover, Meredith Wilson, Lillie Wilson; sisters: Frances W. Turnage of Dunn, Theresa West (Randy Hicks) of Clayton. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Tillie, January 28, 1991; brothers: Joseph C. West and Bobby Ray West. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
