Maxine (Woodall) Wall

July 9, 1922 ~ January 17, 2018 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Maxine W. Wall, 95, was called to her Heavenly Home, peacefully, early Wednesday, January 17, 2018. Maxine was the last surviving of 7 children born to Alfred O. Woodall and Mallie Bagwell Woodall in the Macedonia/Swift Creek Community near Cary, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Lee Roger Wall in 1996. She was also preceded in death by siblings: Louise W. Franklin, Josephine W. Partin, Alma W. Womble, Cecil Woodall, Lois W. Avent and Louis Woodall. 

Maxine and Roger resided in the Longview Gardens neighborhood of Raleigh for 50 years where they raised four sons. Maxine is survived by her sons: Sonny (Cindy) of Wilmington, Mike (Judy) of Wilmington, Randy (Brenda) of Raleigh and Greg (Pat) of Wake Forest, eight grandchildren, Robyn Ormond of Cary, Matt Wall of Leland, Julia Wall of Carrboro, Sarah Wall of Raleigh, Jennifer Stikeleather of Raleigh, Bridgette Barham of Youngsville, Jason Pope of Knightdale, Brooke Wall of Wilmington and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a first cousin and lifelong friend, Annie Lee Bagwell of Garner, NC and many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her husband and siblings, she was also preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Tammy Bowden Wall and infant grandson, Christopher Wall in 1987. 

Maxine retired from a 40 plus year career as a PBX operator, first for Southern Bell Telephone, then the News and Observer/Raleigh Times before spending her last twenty years as the PBX operator for First Federal Savings and Loan. She enjoyed many years as a member and officer in the PBX Club of Raleigh, a club whose members were Public Board Exchange Operators. She received the outstanding Operator Award for 1968-1969 and served as President from 1969-1970. She and Roger enjoyed eleven years of retired life together before his passing in 1996. 

A funeral service will be held at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service, 944 Old Knight Rd., Knightdale, NC on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation immediately after the service.

The interment in the Mausoleum at Montlawn will be private.
