Obituary

Marilyn (Mickey) Ann Olney Stahl, was born January 11, 1933 in Bridgeport, CT to Hendrick and Florence Olney. She grew up in Rhode Island and graduated from Malden School of Nursing and entered the US Air Force as a nurse, where she met the love of her life, David Wittingham Stahl at Scott Air Force Base. The married in 1955 and were stationed in Illinois, Japan, Hawaii, Colorado, Wyoming, North Dakota, Maryland and Ohio. Later, she worked at Kettering Memorial Hospital, Greene Memorial Hospital and in private practice in Ohio.

Mickey passionately was involved in the POW/MIA bracelets campaign in the 1970’s, which prompted a nomination for US Air Force Wife of the Year. Mickey’s infectious personality and faith inspired her to worship and serve through Base Chapels, Mt. Zion United Church of Christ (OH), and Crossroads Fellowship (Raleigh). She participated in community activities through Sertoma (OH), Special Olympics, Williams Syndrome Association, ARC of Wake County, and Christian missions providing medical and humanitarian aid to people in Belarus, Jamaica, Poland, Russia, Siberia, Ukraine, Haiti, and North Africa with Josh McDowell Ministries and Global Aid Network (GAiN).

Mickey was preceded in death by her husband, David; son, Edward; sister, Jackie; nephew, Butch and her parents.

She is survived by her brother, Richard “Dick” Olney of Rhode Island; her son, Dale (Laura) of Two Harbors, MN; son, Rob (Angela) and granddaughters: Amanda and Hope of Raleigh.

The family appreciates the gentle and patient care of the staff at Brookdale North Raleigh and Lawndale Manor.

Her memorial will be Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Crossroads Fellowship, 2721 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC.
