Louis James Gavalyas

Louis James Gavalyas, 95, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018. He was born June 25, 1922 in New York to the late James Gavalyas and Zoi Manangupulis Gavalyas. Louis honorably served his country in the US Navy as an Aviation Radioman and retired as a crew chief with Scandinavian Airlines. 

A memorial service will be held 12:00 pm, Friday, March 23, 2018 at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 164 Longs Plant Farm Road, Goldsboro, NC 27534 with Military Honors. 

Surviving: daughter, Phyllis Goodwin (Rennie) of Raleigh; son, Wayne Gavalyas (Rikki) of Tambourine, Australia; grandchildren: Stefanie Goodwin and Brandon Goodwin. 

In addition to his parents, Louis was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Mueller Gavalyas on December 12, 2014 and sister, Catherine Rottsettis.
