Johnny William Etheridge, Jr., 71, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Rex Healthcare. He was born September 30, 1946 in Halifax County to the late Johnnie William Etheridge, Sr. and Martha Lucille Black Etheridge. Johnny honorably served his country in the United States Army and was a Vietnam War veteran. He continued to serve his country and his fellow servicemen as an RN at the Durham VA Hospital for over 30 years.   

A service to celebrate his life will be held 11:30 am, Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545.

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service 10:00 am to 11:30 am at the funeral home.  

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Tabor United Methodist Church, 10689 NC Hwy. 48, Littleton, NC 27850.  

Surviving: wife, Ava Liles Etheridge; children: Candice Faye Foster (Tommy Matthews) of Angier, Johnny William Etheridge III (Nikki) of Rolesville, Kathy Lynn Carico (Craig) of Winterville; adopted son, Chris Snead (Stephanie) of Wake Forest; grandchildren: Autumn, Cassidy, Paydin, Aurora, Samantha, Kylie, Alex, Joe, Kaitlyn, and Haley; brother, Marvin Etheridge (Sue) of Wake Forest; niece: Blair Etheridge; and lifelong friends: Ernestine Coats, Kenny and Darlene Williams and their daughter Lauren Perkinson (Tyler) and their daughter, Maggie.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 8300 Healthpark, Suite 10, Raleigh, NC 27615.
