Janet Bowers Garris, 58, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Duke Raleigh Hospital. She was born October 14th, 1958 in Hagerstown, MD to the late Brent Bowers, Sr. and Catherine Young Bowers.

After 30 years with Avnet Electronics, Janet enjoyed retirement by reading, cooking, relaxing by the pool, socializing with close friends, and spending any moment she could with her granddaughters. 

Janet is survived by her husband of 18 years, Thurman "Tim" Monroe Garris, Jr; brother Brent "Buddy" Bowers and wife Duvia of Hagerstown, MD; brother Terry Bowers of Hagerstown, MD; sister Kathy Spurlock of Cary, NC; son Dustin B. Riego and wife Bethany of Cary, NC; granddaughters Reagan and Aubrey; nieces Jessica, Brandy, and Megan; and nephew Jeremy.

A service to celebrate her life will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 4, 2017 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Rd., Knightdale, 27545.

The family will receive relatives and friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Transitions LifeCare.
