Jacqueline Faye Miller Cavanaugh, 78, who resided at NHC- National Health Care in Garden City, SC took her last breath on Friday, November 17, 2017. Thanks to the comfort care offered by Hospice and her son, Lee and his wife, Kay, she left behind the suffering of dementia and made a peaceful transition.  

Jackie was born at Rex Hospital in Raleigh on 05/12/1939 to Glenn Frazier Miller, Sr. of Dillon, SC and Macy Ann Parrish of Raleigh, NC. She lived in Raleigh her whole life until after retirement where she and her latest husband, Gale Francis Cavanaugh finally settled down after many investment homes, into a ranch in Johnston County NC.

Jackie graduated Millbrook High School in 1958 and then attended a trade/technical school for an additional year. She worked as a secretary for the Nello L. Teer Company and then later as a school bus driver for the blind in downtown Raleigh. She took such pride in ensuring the safety of all the children and continued driving for about 8 years.

Jackie was always so full of life, making sure all family was happy and had everything they wanted and worked very hard for her family. She loved music, playing Bible hymns on her piano, dancing until her legs fell off and later even taught dance lessons. She enjoyed any and everything in the sun, such as gardening and visiting her beach home at Atlantic Beach in Swansboro, NC. Her heart was always at the beach. Jackie was very charismatic, very well put together and always had on her matching ensemble, even to go the grocery store. Most importantly, she was ensuring the livelihood of all her family.

She leaves behind her loving family that meant so much to her: her 4 children: Teresa Barker Bunch (David) of FL, Willard Leroy Barker Jr. (Kay) of N. Myrtle Beach, SC, David William Barker of Four Oaks, and Jonathan  Cavanaugh (Lisa) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; her 3 grandchildren: Alan Lee Barker (Erin) of Youngsville, NC, Amanda Mae Barker of Raleigh, and Nathan of Colorado; her 4 great-grandchildren: Torrence Barker, Alan Lee Barker Jr, Chloe Barker, and Caydence Barker (children of Alan and Erin Barker); her cousins: Jamey May of Raleigh, Gloria Floyd of Raleigh, Sophia Kusnic of VA, Paul Sheppard (Cindy) of Raleigh, William Edward Sheppard of Raleigh; and her brother, Glenn Frazier Miller Jr. of Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gale Francis Cavanaugh, of Knightdale, who sadly left us on June 13, 2010; her mother, Macy Ann Parrish of Raleigh and her father, Glenn Frazier Miller Sr. of Dillon, SC.

Rev. George W. Pullium Jr. will officiate at the graveside service on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 11:00 am at New Knightdale Baptist Cemetery, Mailman Road, Knightdale, NC, 27545.
