Harue Edwards Jones

Harue Edwards Jones went to be with God on January 28, 2018 after 103 years of life. She was born May 26, 1914 in Wake County to the late John Wesley Edwards and Florence Pearce Edwards. She married Lester Jones and raised 2 sons and a daughter. Harue enjoyed her 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great- grandchildren. Known to many a “MaMa”, she was a great cook, was active at Knightdale Baptist Church and enjoyed being a good neighbor and friend to all. Harue enjoyed cooking at the Vena Wilburn School Cafeteria until she retired. For the last 13 years she resided at Wellington Rehab and Nursing Facility, enjoying Bingo and Diet Mt. Dews. Her loving ways endeared her to all, employees and residents there. 

Funeral service 1:00 pm, Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Knightdale Baptist Church, 15 Main St, Knightdale, 27545. Burial New Knightdale Baptist Church Cemetery.    

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Rd., Knightdale, 27545. 

Surviving: daughter, Libby Jean Wilder (Billy) of Knightdale; daughters-in-law: Janet Jones of Roanoke Rapids, Betty Schmiedel of Knightdale and her grandchildren. 

In addition to her parents, Harue was preceded in death by husband, Lester Leon Jones; sons: Linwood Norris Jones, James Leon “Buck” Jones; grandson, David Wilder; sisters: Lessie, Grace, Bonnie, Ruth, Libby; brothers: Odell, Folger, Berbon, Sherwood.
