George Dale Smith, 85, formerly of Raleigh, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017. He was born July 26, 1931 in Morgantown, WV to the late Dale Smith and Mildred Chalfant Smith Davis. George honorably served his country in the US Army and retired after 27 years of service at the rank of CW4. Mr. Smith also retired with 11 years of service with the Department of Defense Investigative Services.

Graveside 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Raleigh Memorial Park with Full Military Honors, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, 27612.

Surviving: son, George “Dale” Smith, Jr. of Danbury; daughters: Leigh S. Honeycutt of Walnut Cove; Adriane S. Brackett of Danbury.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Betsy Nipper Smith.
