Elsie Mae Parrott O’Neal, 101, passed away May 11, 2017. Elsie was born in Granville County, North Carolina, May 8, 1916, to the late Thomas Macon Parrott and Lillian Beatrice Cash Parrott.

Elsie retired after 20 years with the Wake County School System where she managed Knightdale  School Cafeteria and Vena Wilburn School Cafeteria. Elsie also retired at age 77 from the YMCA’s Camp Sea Gull where she managed their Mess Hall for 18 years, which fed 600 campers, staff and workers three times each day. A year after her retirement, Camp Sea Gull celebrated “Elsie O’Neal Day” to thank her for her many years of service with Camp Sea Gull.

The Celebration of Elsie’s Life Service will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at L.  Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale. Family will accept friends beginning at 2 p.m. before the service. Burial will be directly following the Celebration of Life at Old Knightdale Baptist Church Cemetery, Pine Street & North First Avenue, Knightdale.

Surviving children are son, J.C. O’Neal, Jr. (Colleen) of Garner; daughter, Donna-Gail Roebuck (Steve) of Knightdale; grandsons: Harold O’Neal and Steven Roebuck; granddaughters: Sherry O’Neal, Danielle Roebuck, Deirdre Roebuck, Kassie Gould; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Oza P. Poole, 7 nephews and 10 nieces.

In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Cedric O’Neal and her son, Harold Griffin O’Neal, brothers: Oscar, Otis, Harvey, Frank, Arthur Lee; sisters: Daisy P. Chappell and Grace P. Chappell.
