David Edward Wolter, 77, of Zebulon passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017. He was born October 31, 1939 in Milwaukee, WI to Edward Arthur Wolter and Severa Sellin Wolter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sally Wolter Barton. 

Dave graduated in 1961 from Ripon College, Ripon, Wisconsin, where he played baseball and was a charter member of Phi Delta Theta. After graduation, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the US Army. On June 23, 1962, he married Karen Agazim Wolter. Dave continued his love of sports not only by playing in softball and basketball leagues but by volunteering and coaching with recreation departments in Brown Deer, WI and Wendell, NC. He retired in 2001 after 35 years with Square D Company. 

Besides his wife, Karen, of 54 years, he is survived by his four children: twins, Kristin Wolter Hasbrouck (Jonathan) of Wendell, NC and Scott David Wolter (Jennifer) of Hillsborough, NC; son, Timothy Clifford Wolter of Cornelius, NC; and daughter, Jeni Wolter Wiley (Chris) of Pinehurst, NC. Remembering their “Bumpy” are ten grandchildren: Ian, Eric and Brendan Hasbrouck; Tyson, Seth and Katie Wolter; Cade and Carson Wolter; Zacary and David Wiley. 

Memorial service will be held 6:00 pm, Saturday, January 21, 2017 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Rd., Knightdale, NC 27545. 

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
