David “Dave” John Walker, 59, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016. He was born December 28, 1956 in Conneaut, OH to John Dana Walker and the late Mary Patricia Hollingshead Knipper. He retired in Customer Service with Time Warner Telecommunication. He honorably served his country in the US Air Force. For those of us who knew Dave, it would be easy to describe him; sentimental, kind, patriotic, funny, rocket loving, and a fan of Star Trek. But most of all, he loved his children and granddaughters fiercely and unconditionally. He told anyone without hesitation that his children were the best thing he ever did. 

A service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 5:00 pm at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Rd., Knightdale, NC 27545 with Military Honors. 

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 3:00 to 4:45 pm at the funeral home.

 Surviving: daughter, Rebecca W. Balderas (Alberto) of Durham; sons: Ben Walker (Traci) and Jacob Walker both of Raleigh, Sam Walker (Jessica) of Wendell; grandchildren: Natalia Balderas, Bella Balderas, Alyssa Pilkington; father, John Dana Walker of Clayton; brother, Rick Walker of Fort Hood, TX; sisters: LuAnn Strickland of Four Oaks, Chris Dornburg of Columbia, SC, Kathy Mazanek of Holly Springs.

 Dave requested that flowers be omitted and contributions be made to the Salvation Army, Your Local Food Bank or Wounded Warriors.

 In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Bill Knipper.
