Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all he met, always helping others, Darrell Grey Peoples, 82, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017. He was born March 24, 1935 in Franklin County to the late Bobbie Louis Peoples and Mamie Lassiter Peoples. Darrell retired from ESP as a sales representative. For many years, Darrell owned and operated People’s Tire & Auto on Hodges Street in Raleigh. Darrell will be remembered as a kind and gentle person who took care of his friends and was devoted to his family. His son Terry worked by his side and took over the company in 1995. Now his grandson, Ryan, has taken over, making it a 53 year old third generation family business.

A service to celebrate his life will be held 3:00 pm, Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum, 7501 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, 27612 with entombment to follow.

The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday, May 28, 2017 from 1:00 to 2:15 pm at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Rd., Knightdale, 27545.

Surviving: he is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Alyce Edwards Peoples; sons: Terry Darrell Peoples (Kathy) of Raleigh, Greyling Mark Peoples of Amsterdam, Netherlands; grandchildren: April Peoples Cormier (Brett), Jason Matthews Peoples, Ryan Christopher Peoples; great-grandson, Wyatt Jude Cormier; brother, W.A. Peoples (Shirley) of Wake Forest.  

In addition to his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by siblings: Vernon Peoples, Margaret P. Raybon, Bobbie Wayne Peoples, Clifton Peoples, Doris Newman and Stuart Peoples.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Research, 1305 Navaho Dr. #101, Raleigh, NC 27609.
