DJ is a man I think on pretty much every day even though I haven't been on his crew at Hare since the early 90's with Cory, Ed, Lee, Terry, Fred, Jimmy, and Fuzzy. I was a 20 year old Army brat kid from F'ville. I learned much from DJ and I wasn't a slacker and he could see that. He helped me by just being around him. He'd hire a drifter out of compassion. Been to May and DJ's home a few times. Took my family and Mom and Dad in law to meet them because I wanted them to see what good people they were. I remember Bandit, the raccoon. It's March 2024 and I think on him pretty much every day. Best to the entire Mitchell family. Thank you for allowing me to post/share this. Robert and Susan Miller, Eagle Ridge, Raleigh.

2 Corinthians 1:3,4 gives us the assurance that "the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies" Is "the God of all comfort" and he "comforts us in all our trials". Please accept my sincere condolences. Always remember God loves you and he cares for you! (Psalm 36:7; 1 Peter 5:7)

Dearest PaPa,
After my father, Jacob Tola, passed away you took me under your wing and were truly like a father to me. As my father-in-law you supported me through the most difficult time of my life and never treated me any differently. I could always depend on your love, advice and especially your smile to brighten my days. You were always a LOVING Grandpa to my Girls and my grandkids loved coming to see you because they could ride the golf cart and learn about all the tools and stuff in your workshop. You were and always will be beloved by your children, grand and great-grandchildren, and all those who were blessed by your presence, your boundless energy, and that incredible smile!
Love Always,
Carol

Hi, this is Rudene’s sister, Diane. Judy and Jeanne will probably remember me as we spent some time at the beach together one summer. I am very sorry to hear of Mitch’s passing. Our family always loved Mitch and his love for life. I was lucky enough to see him last February when I was at my sister Brenda’s house. We all reminisced about times together, family, funny stories, etc. He loved his family so much, I know you will miss him. Diane

This message is to Judy and Jeanne and the rest of the family! May you find peace in your time of sorrow! Our Lord is a good Lord and he will lead you along the path in sorrow and in joy. Always remember you will see each other again when it’s time for you to go home, so do not say goodbye, just say so long for now! I love you all and you are in my prayers!

My thoughts and prayers are with family and friends. DJ was a very special person and will be sorely missed. He never met a stranger and always brightened a room with his ever-present smile. "Well done, good and faithful servant servant." Matthew 25:21
