Carl Linwood Denton, 79, retired Construction Inspections Supervisor for the City of Raleigh with 30 years of service. He was a graduate of Corinth Holders High School. Carl was an inactive member of the Corinth Holder Volunteer Fire Dept., a retired Western Style Square Dance Caller and Instructor and was a Registered Songwriter with BMI, Inc. He was also a member of Corinth Baptist Church, Chairman of the Cemetery Committee for many years and guitarist and tenor with Corinth Gospel Quartet for over 20 years, a retired driver with American Classic Charters and Tours, he was a former teacher of 2 Step Dancing at the Long Branch in Raleigh for 8 years. Carl served a combined 5 years with the US Army and NC DOT.

He was the son of the late Howard S. Denton and Nicy Davis Denton and is survived by son, Howard Ruffin Denton and wife Teresa of Middlesex; grandchildren: Stacey M. Denton, Matthew R. Denton.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by sister, Janie M. Denton and brother, Charles Denton.

Funeral service 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 5, 2017 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Rd., Knightdale, 27545 with Reverend Ricky Anderson and Reverend Glen Brock officiating.

Burial Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors.   

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:45 pm at the funeral home.
