Betty Lou Blackley Ray, 86, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017. She was born May 22, 1930 in Wake County to the late Willie Obie Blackley and Mabel Pearce Blackley. As long as her health permitted Betty Lou was devoted to her family and friends.  

Funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Monday, May 1, 2017 at Hopkins Chapel Baptist Church, 4525 Hopkins Chapel Road, Zebulon, 27597 with Pastor Earl Roach officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

The family will receive relatives and friends from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, Sunday, April 30, 2017 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Rd., Knightdale, 27597. 

Surviving: husband of 68 years, W. Lindberg Ray; son, Larry Ray of Zebulon; grandchildren: Autumn Britt Ray Harris (Jamie), Ashley Lauren Ray Wood (Sam) all of Zebulon; great-grandchildren: Sawyer Harris, Thatcher Harris, Jake Harris, Jeremy Wood, Camryn Wood. 

In addition to her parents, Betty Lou was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Toni Ann Duke Ray and brother, Willis Blackley.    

Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Hopkins Chapel Baptist Church.
